knowledge of foundational and contemporary topics in psychological science and the methods and tools used to conduct psychological research, including research design and data analysis.\u00a0\u00a0Students also learn to communicate effectively with other members of the scientific community and acquire the skills to apply psychological principles in diverse domains that characterize well-educated and ethical learners.\u00a0\u00a0We accomplish this through a combination of student-centered advising and mentoring, participation in a large variety of required and elective courses, collaborative student-faculty research opportunities, and community outreach opportunities in the form of career field experiences and internships.<\/p>\n<h2>Student Learning Goals &amp; S. Psychology Majors:\u00a0 <\/strong>(Depth of Knowledge in Natural Sciences):\u00a0 develop a greater understanding of the natural sciences so that this deeper understanding can be applied to the study of psychology. Students completing the B.S. degree will gain a more extensive understanding of how the natural sciences and mathematics mutually enrich the study of psychology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT NOTE<\/strong>: The Department of Psychological Sciences is in the process of revising the Bachelor of Science (BS) curriculum to expand the course offerings students can complete to fulfill science requirements. Currently, the BS degree exclusively requires natural science courses, but the revised curriculum will include additional courses in the applied sciences in other fields.
