The mission of the Accounting program is to prepare students with the essential intellectual qualities for success through targeted studies in accounting and business, experiential learning, and broad-based education necessary for ethical and professional accomplishment. We will also guide students in the development of personal qualities and norms that support success in a competitive global environment.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\nStudent Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\nUpon completion of the Undergraduate Accounting Program:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n- Students will acquire appropriate content knowledge with an awareness of situational and global context.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Students will acquire business skills and awareness of ethical conduct that are appropriate to a professional environment.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Students will develop effective communication skills including research and writing skills to allow them to identify, analyze, apply, and communicate relevant information for decision-making.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Through active learning opportunities, students will develop an awareness of how they may apply their knowledge and skills within various organizational settings and environments.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Master’s Student Learning Outcomes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In addition to the student learning outcomes noted above, students in the master’s portion of the B.S.\/M.S. in Professional Accountancy will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n- Students will produce, analyze, and apply accounting and business information for management decision-making using advanced accounting theories and concepts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Students will apply quantitative and technology-based skills to effectively support business decisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Students will evaluate, analyze, and communicate accounting and business issues in an advanced global context.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Students will be able to gather information and conduct research necessary to access, understand, apply, and communicate relevant accounting information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Students will be able to integrate ethical concepts to inform business decisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Students will demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of accounting and business concepts and functions in an integrated manner.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Linda Eckert Kuechler & Herbert B Eckert Memorial Scholarship<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
The award is made to a senior-level accounting major who has been accepted into the 150-hour professional accountancy program at Daemen University. Recipients are expected to be in good academic standing, to progress through the program on a full-time basis, and exemplify ethical standards. An essay addressing why ethical behavior is good business is required of applicants. Further details may be obtained from the Department Chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lumsden & McCormick, LLP Endowed Scholarship in Accounting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\nMultiple awards are made to junior or senior accounting majors who are expected to be in good academic standing and possess a record of academic excellence in both their major area of study as well as other general education courses.
