{"id":707,"date":"2015-05-25T23:27:20","date_gmt":"2015-05-26T03:27:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/catalog.daemen.edu\/grad\/?page_id=707"},"modified":"2020-07-31T11:35:27","modified_gmt":"2020-07-31T15:35:27","slug":"advanced-certificate-partners-in-health-for-people-with-disabilities-phepd","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/catalog.daemen.edu\/grad\/nursing-graduate-programs\/advanced-certificate-partners-in-health-for-people-with-disabilities-phepd\/","title":{"rendered":"Advanced Certificate: Partners in Health for People with Disabilities (PHEPD)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The Nursing department is currently&nbsp;<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> <\/strong>accepting new students to this certificate program.<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>A post baccalaureate certificate program is available for nurses who possess a Master of Science degree in Nurse Practitioner or are enrolled in a program leading to a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.&nbsp; The purpose of this program is to enhance the knowledge and skill of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to provide quality health services to children and adults with developmental disabilities.&nbsp; The program is modeled after the Partners in Health Education for People with Disabilities curriculum from the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council for training of NPs and PAs.<\/p>\n<h3>REQUIREMENTS<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>HSC515 Legal and Ethical Implications for Caregivers of Individuals with Developmental Diisabilities&nbsp;(1)<\/li>\n<li>HSC530 Caring for Children with Developmental Disabilities&nbsp;(1)<\/li>\n<li>HSC532 Caring for Adults with Developmental Disabilities&nbsp;(1)<\/li>\n<li>HSC560 Community Care for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (3)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>TOTAL CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS =&nbsp;6 CREDITS<\/h3>\n<h2>Certificate: Admission Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>This post-baccalaureate certificate requires:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrollment in, or degree completion from an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program.<\/li>\n<li>Completion of, or current enrollment in an Advanced Health Assessment (NP) or 300 level Physical Assessment course (PA) or the equivalent<\/li>\n<li>A written statement describing educational objectives and areas of professional and personal interest, particularly in relation to working with individuals with developmental disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of a resume summarizing professional activities and completed continuing educational courses.<\/li>\n<li>An interview with the PHEPD program coordinators is required; a telephone interview may be arranged if an on-site interview is not possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional information for <a href=\"nursing-graduate-programs\/\">graduate Nursing programs: Admissions Requirements; Course Repeats; Time Limitations; Requirements for Graduation<\/a> \u2013 consult the Nursing Department web page or the Program Plans site on the Registrar\u2019s web page.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nursing department is currently&nbsp;not accepting new students to this certificate program.
